A THEATRE TRIP FOR EVERY CHILD at The Albany

The Albany is giving another 2,000 free tickets to local schoolkids as part of a pioneering scheme – whose patrons are Oscar nominees Jude Law and Emily Watson – to help youngsters learn to love the stage.
More than 3,500 Year 1 Lewisham children went to Albany shows last year following the launch of A Theatre Trip For Every Child, backed by donations from businesses and individuals.
And the new batch of tickets is for performances of the classic fairytale Hansel And Gretel which is being staged at the Albany by brilliant dance company Uchenna in May.
Law, who grew up in Lewisham, said: “I’m proud to give my ongoing support to the campaign and delighted that the first year was such a success.”
And Watson said even an hour at the Albany could “offer a glimpse into future possibilities” which some youngsters might not otherwise have imagined.
She added: “You never forget your first trip to the theatre. It’s such a gift - and one that we must keep on giving.”
